LAGOA AZUL - RIO
João José da Silva, or just Contra-Mestre João do Pulo - to the Capoeira's world - born in the city of Itabuna/BA in 1956, dedicated to Capoeira 27 from his 43 years of life. He started to practice in 1972, when he was sixteen years-old, with Mestre Camisa. The still beginner João do Pulo did not follow Mestre Camisa when he left the Senzala Group to create his own Group, Abadá Capoeira.
With no traumas and regrets, he continued practicing with Mestre Caio, which he recognizes, gave all the efforts to promote João do Pulo to Contra-Mestre. An unexpected accident however, delayed his plans. When he stills enjoy the roda as an Orange Rope (1985) he suffered a fracture in the knee and could not play Capoeira. Started a period of transition and losses in which the help and assistance of Mestre Camisa were providentials. "He (Mestre Camisa) gave me tottaly effort and help. He even gave me money for a long time until I get better", recognizes thankful, Contra-Mestre João do Pulo.
The difficulties relieved with the Roda da Lagoa. He even went abroad, to give classes and workshops in Germany, Holland, France and Belgium. Nowadays, with a good fame, his most plasure is to dedicate all the personal effort to improve the job that he develops with the Lagoa Azul Group. (Revista da Capoeira)
On the 8th Batizado and Entrega de Cordas of the group, on September 30th, 2001, João do Pulo was graduated master, by the hands of Mestre Mendonça and his pupils and guests.
On the 9th Batizado and Entrega de Cordas, on December 1st, 2002, João do Pulo graduated his firsts Contra-Mestres: Mazinho and Serra Pelada.
On the 11th Batizado and Entrega de Cordas, on August 21st, 2005, João do Pulo graduated another Contra-Mestre: Everaldo.
